So I had to watch a movie in class called O' Brother, Where Art Thou? We had to watch it because the movie was based on the Odyssey, which we're researching for a project right now. The movie was really good and it was funny at times like when Pete thought that Delmar was turned into a toad. I recommend that you watch it in your own free time! There are plenty of references of the Odyssey in this movie. For example, the main characters met some women singing and hanging out by the river. They hang out with the women and then they wake up the next morning with their friend Delmar missing and a toad in his place. This is an obvious reference to the Sirens and also to Odysseus' crew getting turned into pigs. Another reference is when Everett comes across his wife where he finds out that she is engaged to someone else. This is similar to how Penelope had to choose a husband since Odysseus was thought to be missing. The only difference is that Penelope doesn't choose a husband and doesn't claim her husband was hit by a train. What's up with that?? I'd also like to say that I prefer Everett over Odysseus. I know that's a weird thing to say but Everett goes through some development in his character. He starts to care about his friends and becomes more honest. When Delmar is captured, Everett and Pete go get him back. Also when they are about to be hanged, Everett prays saying that he wants to see his daughters one last time. Tearjerker, am I right?? Odysseus does similar things to those but Everett had more character development. That's all I'd like to say about this movie. 7 out of 10. Good movie. Check it out. And just because you're mad at someone, it doesn't mean you should say they were hit by a train. Unless they were hit by a train! (The GIF above is from the show We Bare Bears. They made a reference to O' Brother in the show. I thought that was funny.)
